You’ve Got To Jump Off Cliffs All The Time And Build Your Wings On The Way Down

Build Wings | Leading Advisor

Laura and I just returned from an 11-day retreat in Todos Santos, Baja California Sur, Mexico.

Todos Santos (which means All Saints) is 75 minutes North and far away from Cabo San Lucas. Todos Santos is an oasis with charm and vibe that has attracted Laura and I back for our 5th adventure.

This time around we rented a house, which allowed us to “throw away the clock” with respect to housekeepers and meals, and we certainly did not miss the noise and stimulation of a resort.

Laura and I enjoyed our days cooking & playing house, going to the beach, looking at galleries & shops, meditating, going to yoga, reading and going out for the odd dinner.

This trip’s reading included bits and pieces of a mindless read of Jack Kerouac’s Dharma Bums and a two-time cover to cover mindful read, review and debrief of Michael Beckwith’s Life Visioning.

As a memento of our trip, Laura and I bought a clay fired statue of an Angel, created by an artist from Guadalajara. The gallery owner packaged the Angel for us and advised us to carry the Angel as carry on luggage versus packing the Angel in our luggage. When we checked in for the flight, we were advised that we could not take the Angel in our carry-on, so we packed the Angel in our luggage and hoped for the best.

Alas, one of the wings of the Angel was broken off.  I am happy to say that the Angel is back in one piece with the help of J-B Weld ClearWeld Quick-Setting Epoxy.

“If we listened to our intellect, we’d never have a love affair. We’d never have a friendship. We’d never go into business, because we’d be cynical. Well, that’s nonsense. You’ve got to jump off cliffs all the time and build your wings on the way down.” ―Ray Bradbury

This quote, along with the book, Life Visioning has provided me with a renewed inspiration as a Business & Life Designer, to share life and business inspiration with those who we are in service to.

Working through the Leading Advisor coaching program has brought me clarity and focus and has given me the resources to continuously minimize distractions that are taking me away from my true vision. The one-on-one coaching helped me to clear out old issues from my head and life that were really holding me back. Working through the Clearing process was not something I expected from a business coaching program but one I will value moving forward. The process the program takes you through and the space and peace it provides is invaluable. There is one month left in the year and I am not panicked about how the year will finish. I already know. I know my plan, it’s in place, it’s written, and I am looking forward to a successful new year. The best part of the coaching is that the tools and resources that have brought me to this place can be used each and every year to continuously bring me clarity and success.
