Is He Or She Really Crazy?

Crazy Spouse
From time to time both female and male clients tell me He Or She Is Crazy when referring to their spouse.

What is the definition of “crazy”?

Adjective –

1)     mentally deranged, especially as manifested in a wild or aggressive way. “Stella went crazy and assaulted a visitor”

2)    extremely enthusiastic. “I’m crazy about Cindy”

Adverb – “I’ve been crazy busy”

Noun – a mentally deranged person.

Your spouse isn’t crazy and likely needs listening and understanding.

What happens when you believe your spouse is crazy and/or you tell others your spouse is crazy and/or you tell your spouse they are crazy?

Does this create less or more crazy?

Instead of believing or telling in presumed moments of crazy, listen to understand using this communications model;

  1. Ask: How are you? / How are you feeling?
  2. Reply: You are / You are feeling ______, ______ and ______?
  3. If you gain honest heartfelt answers to Point 1 go into Point. 4, if not, Repeat Points 1 &  2.
  4. Reply: What is it that you are needing or wanting? What I hear you saying is you are / you are feeling ______, ______ and ______ and you are needing or wanting ______ and _______. Is that right?
  5. Ask: How can I help?

Sometimes there isn’t anything you need to do; just ask questions and listen to your spouse gain their own understanding.
