Family Succession

We send out Coaching Call Follow-up Emails after every coaching call. The following Coaching Call Follow-up Email segues off of last week’s blog: Business Puzzles We Have Solved For Clients Q1 2018.

In this case, this Coaching Call Followup Email relates to a Family Business Succession Plan for daughter or son leading the business as they join the parent’s business.

  • Congratulations on the extraordinary work that you are doing to implement Core Values throughout your business and team.
  • With respect to maximizing your parents’ energy;
    • Ask them what their Vision is for 1, 3, 5 years into the future; have them describe it specifically.
    • Ask them if they are committed or interested.
    • Ask them to confirm their commitment by debriefing their week by E-mail at the end of each week. Have them answer the following questions and send it to you. This will help both of you to be in a better position to delegate to your team.
      • What did I accomplish this week?
      • What didn’t I accomplish this week?
      • What further action needs to be taken to further my progress towards my goals?
      • What needs to be delegated to John?
  • Talk with your parents about what happens when they do what is requested of them and when they don’t. Let them know the difference it is going to make in the business and with respect to your life as well. Explain to them what is going to happen if they don’t do it and be specific with respect to the possible consequences.
  • With respect to strategies on slowing down, delegation, and a to-do list, I would recommend you follow the above strategy for your staff.

Leading Advisor’s coaching program has helped me to emotionally declutter. They provide a safe coaching space to be able to say what needs to be said, be understood, not be judged and move forward with clear direction. They have also helped me to create a solid foundation to build strong emotional muscles to reframe and manage situations that otherwise would have held me back. I look forward to continuing to grow my business and personal life with Leading Advisor’s straightforward resources, homework, and accountability.
