Welcome to the September 2015 edition of the Balance * Plan * Reward Newsletter.

Thank you to the MDRT (Million Dollar Round Table), MDRT Speaking Captain Ron Davidson and MDRT Moderator Devang Patel for the blessing to have been chosen from hundreds of coaches for the 2015 New Orleans MDRT Practice Management Secrets Panel.

During the Practice Managements Secrets Panel, managed by MDRT Speaking Captain Ron Davidson and Moderated by Devang Patel, I was asked as series of questions that included the following.

Before we begin, here are a few pictures of friends and highlights from the MDRT.

Please explain the plateauing out syndrome
and what to do about it.

The plateauing out syndrome can be explained by a MDRT member saying the following;

I’ve been in the business a while and I achieved most of the business and personal goals that I have set out to achieve, but something is missing. I thought that achieving my goals was going to feel a lot different than it does. I’ve got plenty of money. My wife and I have got great friends and family, our kids, step-kids and their step-mom seem to get along. We’ve got a great house, cars and vacation home and I take plenty of time off and my clients understand this. But again something is missing. I’ve got all the toys like a Harley and I can’t even be bothered to ride it. I just don’t have the motivation drive that I once had.

Motivation is flawed at the core as it is fueled by Unmet Needs, like recognition, driving Negative Emotions of anxiety and fear and Negative Beliefs that I am not good enough. The law of attraction is absolute; the true self / the soul or the amygdala, ego or limbic brain will attract whatever is being focused on. Time Magazine interviewed Bob Dylan and asked, “How do you handle fortune and fame?” Bob Dylan answered, “Don’t let the guy in the back seat do the driving.”

The motivation that one once had, driven by the subconscious back seat amygdala, ego or limbic brain, fooled the plateauing out financial service professional into thinking that they would be happy in the pursuit of money and things. The motivation goes away because an Unmet Need can’t be met by anything outside of our true selves; Unmet Needs must be met from within.

What can be done about the plateauing out syndrome?

Financial service professionals need to understand how to identify and correct their Unmet Needs, Negative Emotions and Negative Beliefs. They say that Values, Positive Feelings and Positive Beliefs are like turtles and only come out when it is safe as they will be dominated by Unmet Needs, Negative Emotions and Negative Beliefs.

Having said this, one needs to get to the core of where the Unmet Needs, Negative Emotions and Negative Beliefs originated from in the first place and then correct them through a three-step process.

Step 1) If I let the guy in the back seat do the driving, meaning my amygdala, ego or limbic brain, this could trigger an old Unmet Need of worthiness within me, along with Negative Emotions of anxiety and fear and the belief that I am worthless ... too worthless to speak at the MDRT.

Step 2) On behalf of my amygdala, ego or limbic brain, I choose to forgive myself for the old Unmet Need of worthiness within me, along with Negative Emotions of anxiety and fear and the belief that I am worthless ... too worthless to speak at the MDRT.

Step 3) Forgive me for forgetting that my Values are awareness, faith and wisdom and they fuel the feelings of certainty, commitment and confidence and belief that what I am sharing today will help all of you gain a deeper understanding of yourselves from the inside out to enable you to meet and exceed the goals for yourselves and all of those that you serve.

From here, once Unmet Needs, Negative Emotions and Negative Beliefs are identified and corrected, taking care of the 90% of WHY a financial services professional is Not successful, I work with my clients to define their true Values, Positive Feelings and Positive Beliefs, the WHY behind 90% of success and then integrate them with their vision, purpose, mission and plan - the 10% of success.

Thank you for the opportunity to be of service,
