Did You Get Your Report Card? - Now that got your attention didn't it?

We have just completed a Quarterly Review of our Business Plan which also included doing a Report Card on every area of our business & Adding New Projects To Our Business Plan.

I made one mistake in the process. I was so busy with doing the Report Card and being real honest that I didn’t realize that I pulled myself into feeling daunted by all of the things that I believe we need to do to take Leading Advisor to the next level and beyond.

Walking my talk and taking my own medicine would have prevented this, and this means Giving Thanks For What We Created In The First Quarter Of 2007 as Step #1. This way one comes from the place of feeling inspired versus getting hooked into what isn’t complete yet.

The entire process looks like;

  • Business Plan Review
  • Giving Thanks For What Is Created In The Previous Quarter
  • Report Card
  • Add New Projects To Business Plan
  • Budget Review
  • Time Line Projects
  • ID Goals For Next Quarter
  • ID Actions
  • Schedule

So here are two lists;

  • Giving Thanks For What We Created In The First Quarter Of 2007
  • Leading Advisor Report Card January 1st – Mach 31st, 2007

Client Feedback

Hi Laura,

I attended the recent Pro Seminars Vancouver conference.

Simon's presentation was excellent and he knew his audience, hit the important issues, was able to challenge us & blend it all with humor & love for the human spirit.

Please let Simon know that I have referred him to our Investment dealership and his info has been forwarded to the regional coordinator.

Thanks again,

Ian Fordyce

We as advisors are exposed to many different continuing education programs, each with a multitude of speakers. At the end of the day, the topics tend to get repetitive and begin to be a waste of time. That is easily evidenced by the number of attendees reading newspapers or doing crossword puzzles during the sessions. Then along comes Simon Reilly. His approach was a refreshing change and to say the least, a bit of an eye opener. Most attendees left the presentation motivated and raring to go. We all know that that type of motivation lasts a few days at best, and we soon resort to our old habits.

However, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to work with Simon one on one. Simon took the time to understand both my strengths and weaknesses. But rather than just trying to fix the problems, Simon delved into why they were there in the first place. This process allowed Simon to help me create the strategies, and more importantly, provided me with a toolkit that I am using on an ongoing basis to meet and exceed my goals. It is the use of this toolkit that has helped me to build the confidence to work with, and attract more complex clients and opportunities.

To Heck With Ask Jeeves, Find Jeeves!

Note to the reader. You may wonder why I am including the following which to some, may be seen as bunch of personal dribble. Marketing is the process of elimination. I believe that clients will buy from you when they know you, like you, trust you, respect you, get value and when they are ready.

If you don’t like my personal style of sharing what is going on in my personal life, both the strong and to some what may seem to be the weaker sides of the human condition, you will not like me and you will likely not enjoy working with me.

So on with the story.

By the way, Ask Jeeves is still around, it is now ask.com.

As another birthday passes, I recall that my energy level is always huge right after my birthday.

This added energy dovetails into my belief that it is important to eliminate all incompletions and distractions in order to create the space for attraction.

What is your choice, distraction or attraction?

This also brings something to mind that the late great Thomas Leonard said to me back in 1996; “If you want to attract clients, clean up your office”.

So for me, the best place to start is with my personal life.

My title of “To Heck With Ask Jeeves, Find Jeeves” relates to me seriously thinking that I would like to consider hiring a contractor to take care of the details in my personal life.

I have no idea if this is possible and I am gaining clarity as I write this and I hope that you are gaining value at the same time.

So here are three lists. One is what I completed over the weekend, one is of what needs to be completed by me and one is what needs to be completed by delegation.

Again, keep in mind that I am creating a space of zero distractions to able me to magnify my focus in other areas.

Completed Over The Weekend

  • Clean Up, Install Shelving, Re-Organize and Sweep Garage

Here is a pic of the new shelves which I am very pleased with.
  • Hang Pictures
  • Wash Truck
  • Repair Laura’s Office Desk
  • Repair Driveway Lighting
  • Purchase Hanging Basket Sprinkler Equipment

Here is a pic of the hanging baskets from last year and as much as I love the beauty of the flowers, I want to eliminate hand watering these two times a day
  • Program Fan Timers
  • Purchase Jewel Cases For Nuts & Bolts
  • Wash Algae Of Patio
  • Vacuum Offices

To Complete

  • Purchase Hanging Baskets (as soon as frost warning over)
  • Put Patio Furniture Outside (as soon as frost warning over)
  • Build Wine Rack
  • Fertilize Plants
  • Install Hanging Basket Sprinkler System
  • Reprogram Furnace For Summer
  • Clean Up Nuts & Bolts Using Jewel Cases

To Complete – Delegate

  • Plant Flowers In Pots
  • Auto Windshield Repair & Detail
  • Build Bookcase
  • Install Stereo & Speakers
  • Wash Outside Windows
  • Install Crown Mouldings In Master Bedroom

So at the end of the exercise I have come to the realization;

  • Puttering around doing odd jobs around the house is something I enjoy
  • This is the makings of a delegation list for next year
  • This list will set the intention to attract the help for these incompletions
