What Are The Signficance Of Values, Positive Beliefs And Positive Emotions On Your Business
For years, the Leading Advisor Coaching Program has provided our clients with the following sustainable systems that relate to;
Fulfillment - deep, soul-orientated Feelings that one experiences when they are expressing their Values, as in being themselves.
Values - Values are WHY you approach your business and personal goals - therefore what motivates your Behavior.
- Values are "functional" forms of motivation. Most people in business and in life do not have a clear and written Values Statement.
- Behaviors - Are HOW you are currently taking action towards your business and personal goals.
Vision, Purpose & Mission - Values & Behaviors are the foundation for your Vision, Purpose & Mission. If you are not living your Values, Behaviors, Vision, Purpose & Mission, you are living someone else's.
What are the Values and Behaviors of Today's Leading Advisor?
Values or Unmet Needs? Most Advisors and people in general do not know the difference between a Value and an Unmet Need. Values naturally draw you forward without effort. Values are "functional" forms of motivation.
Unmet Needs "dysfunctionally" drive your behavior. Unmet Needs based motivation is dysfunctional. "Motive - the sense of need, desire, fear, etc." - Webster's Dictionary. What do you want to be motivated by? Need, desire and fear or something that naturally draws you forward. Most Advisors and people in general have Unmet Needs. Unmet Needs dominate and run you until they are identified and satisfied; satisfying Unmet Needs is not an option. Unmet Needs can be satisfied and when satisfied, you can be yourself.
You find ways to substitute what you really need to keep the dysfunctional drive and energy source of the Unmet Needs alive (alcohol, caffeine, food, money, nicotine, possessions, work, over promising, overselling etc.) If it is not satisfiable, it is an addiction or a compulsion. When Unmet Needs are not satisfied, your business development slows down and your quality of life diminishes. You waste money and time controlling and overanalyzing and attract conflict, rejection, struggle, suffering and time-consuming tasks and people. When Unmet Needs are satisfied you have the time and energy to love yourself, others and attract what you really want in your business and personal life. The Leading Advisor Coaching Program enables you to identify and satisfy your Unmet Needs versus being covert, ignorant and inefficient about getting your Unmet Needs satisfied.
Money - a Value or Unmet Need? Money can be both a Value and an Unmet Need. To be more specific, Abundance and Currency are "Money" Values. Safety and Security are "Money" Unmet Needs. What is the significance?
Unmet Needs are the Fuel for Limiting Beliefs. If one has Unmet Needs, one always has Limiting Beliefs and vice versa. It is not either, or. And this is why it is virtually impossible to identify and consistently change Limiting Beliefs without identifying and satisfying the Unmet Needs at the same time. As an example, when one has Unmet Needs of Safety and Security, one undoubtedly has Limiting Beliefs of: I am not safe and I am not secure. It is impossible to have consistent Positive Beliefs when one has Unmet Needs.
Unmet Needs are the Fuel for Limiting Beliefs and Limiting Emotions. When one has Unmet Needs of Safety and Security, one undoubtedly has Limiting Beliefs of: I am not safe and I am not secure. With these Unmet Needs and Limiting Beliefs, one never accomplishes or creates enough to feel safe, continually attracts uncertain situations and people and feels anxious, edgy, fearful, hesitant, jittery, nervous, panicky, reluctant, restless, scared, shaky, skeptical, suspicious, uneasy and unsteady.
The Leading Advisor Coaching Program will help you to Clear your Unmet Needs, Limiting Beliefs and Limiting Emotions enabling you to create a strong foundation for your Personal and Business Vision, Plans and Goals to stand on.
Eliminating Procrastination - Part 1
So you set your 90 day goals on January 1st, 2007 and you did not complete them all.
Perhaps you were procrastinating? So what is procrastination?
The definition is;
- to put off intentionally and habitually
- to put off intentionally the doing of something that should be done
Yet we talked about shoulds.
Your 90 day goals are not shoulds, they are musts.
Procrastination is one on the biggest wastes of time that we have. We are not taking the necessary action towards our 90 day goals. We are also wasting a tremendous amount of time worrying about procrastination and the time that we are wasting. At the same time, we are doing a lot of self loathing for not doing what we had intended to do.
It should be as simple as making up your mind to do it - right?
Yes I know that some tasks may seem unpleasant because we lack the experience, energy and expertise to do them.
Like writing articles and e-newsletters for instance?
In my past, I lacked a tremendous amount of experience, energy and expertise to publish a web site, blog and e-newsletter. I probably still do. Now my potential lack of experience, energy and expertise is not centered on publishing a web site, blog and e-newsletter any more. Now the next challenge for me is to become an expert e-marketer to market my public speaking to promote my web site, blog, e-newsletter and future book.
And if I allow myself the luxury of thinking about it - that I do not have all the experience and expertise, I will not have the energy.
So energy is the first challenge.
I deal with energy by taking on my most challenging tasks when I have the most energy and that is first thing in the morning.
Even for today, on Sunday evening I wrote down a short list of First Thing In The Morning Tasks that I plan to either get done or take action on this week.
My list is:
- Write Blog
- Write E-Newsletter
- Edit TV Commercial
- Edit Web Site Articles
- Edit Testimonials
- Research, Read & Write Articles relating to the Financial Services Industry
- Read & Train Myself about E-Marketing
What I mean by first thing in the morning is I get up at 5am. I do an hour of writing. I’m in the gym doing cardio and stretching for 45 minutes and I am either reading or making notes for writing when I am on the exercise bike. If you are committed there is always a way.
Believe me; if you work at taking one step to improve every single day, you will get better and better.
So the key is to take action.
But many don’t. Why?
F.E.A.R. - False Expectations Appearing Real.
There are many labels around Fear.
Fear of:
- Abandonment
- Change
- Embarrassment
- Emotional Pain
- Error
- Failing
- Feeling
- Intimacy
- Judgment
- Rejection
- Success
- The Unknown
So WHO is afraid of all this stuff anyway?
Who are YOU? The YOU that I want to address are NOT:
- Your Body
- Your Mind
- Your Ego
When I say YOU, I am talking to your Super Conscious Self or your Soul Self. This is the Self that I want YOU to draw out and to champion.
It is when you are Clear and it is what:
- Guru’s call Higher Consciousness
- Biologists call Altered States
- Physiologists call Super-Sentience
- Christians call Answered Prayer
“Divine Revelation simply means adjusting your brain to hear what your heart already knows”. “Each of us knows all. We only need to open our minds to hear our own wisdom”. - Dan Brown - The Da Vinci Code
It is not the Super Conscious Self or your Soul Self that is in FEAR.
It is the Dysfunctional part of your Ego that is in FEAR because of it's unmet needs of worthiness, security, perfection, recognition, power and control.
These unmet needs are the source of all limiting beliefs and fear based emotions and you must invest the time to get your Ego’s unmet needs met and clear your Ego’s limiting beliefs and limiting emotions.
Here are a few segments of an article from The Vancouver Sun about The Power Within Seminar that was held at the Vancouver Trade & Convention Centre on Friday, March 19, 2005.
Notable speakers included Mark Burnett and Dr. Phil McGraw.
“People need vision, Burnett said, but shouldn’t get caught up in being certain about success, because those who need certainty never act. And in crafting a vision, “you might as well think big and massive and scared.”
“Fear, said McGraw, is humankind’s biggest motivator. People base many of life’s decisions, even if it’s to take no action, to avoid being afraid.”
A few thoughts come to mind
As John Kehoe said in his book, Mind Power - “Thoughts are real forces”.
People have to get that they must clear their fear and limiting beliefs because they will continually attract the evidence, the result, and the experience, based upon what they believe.
I believe that one will also counter balance fear by continuing to focus on a big vision that is based upon values, positive beliefs and feelings - Simon Reilly.
Stay tuned for more in Eliminating Procrastination - Part 2.
“Fear knocked at the door, and faith answered, and no one was there”.

November 12, 2007 - An Interview With a Shepherd

This week brings an interview with a Book Shepherd.
The definition of a Book Shepherd comes from Dan Poynter who coined the term. A Book Shepherd as someone who can take your manuscript through all the processes to a finished book. Book Shepherding can include preparing you for the best shot at success with branding, positioning, professional promotional materials and advice on getting your book moving through a number of markets.
Before you read the following, you are invited to "leave your ego at the door" as some of your egos might be exclaiming "how can one deal with all of this" or "it's too much" or "you will never get it all done".
I am offering this to demonstrate that it can be done as long as one incorporates days for personal time, client time and time for business planning. These days a generated from step one - creating a vision, step two - predetermining personal time, client time and time for business planning in that order and then step three - estimating the income required to realize the income in the client time.
So true to form, this week is also a Buffer Week which means that it is not a Coaching Call Week back to back from Tuesday - Friday.
Monday, Thursday afternoon and Friday are completely clear to invest in the following;
• Sales Management of Limited One On One Coaching Space - Do we add a Coaching Day to Add 7 New Clients or Limit Enrollment?
• A few Client Follow Up E-Mails from Last Week
• November E-Newsletter
• Book Shepherd Interview
• Power Point Review / Prep for speaking presentations for Pro-Seminars on November 19th in London, ON & on November 26 in Vancouver, BC and for The Independent Financial Brokers Summit on November 26th in Vancouver, BC
• Discuss Public Speaking Filming of November 26th Presentations
• Public Speaking Leads Follow Up
• Computer Maintenance. My beloved Gateway Tablet is still experiencing systems problems. It will have to go into the shop to have all the data and programs removed and re-installed.
• Manage Purchase Of Equipment Cabinet and Systems
• Investigate Back Up Power Supply ... we had 12 power outages last year and I don't believe the environment is going to get any better. This includes Investigating A Cell Phone Signal Booster
• Manage Web Site Refinements that Kim Black is working on
• Upgrade Uniform for 2008 ( shirts, suits and ties )
• Continue to Improve Step 6 of our Clients Strategies - Refine your Marketing and Sales Skills
• Update our Speaking Folio
• Asking For and Publishing Speaking Testimonials
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning will be invested in calls with clients and prospects. We are still speaking with prospects in follow up to the four speaking presentations that I did for Advocis, Pro-Seminars and Independent Financial Brokers Summit from Thursday, October 18th Tuesday, October 24th and we will be close to wrapping up the follow up prospect calls this week. A good thing, as I have the three speaking presentations on November 19th and 26th and there will be new prospect calls to follow up from these dates.
We are so looking forward to completing this year and to getting on with our 2008 Plan. Given that we are as good as sold out of One On One Coaching, it is time to introduce a Group Coaching Product. This will create the opportunity to offer a "Gold Program - Group Coaching" and the "Platinum Program - One On One Coaching".
