28 Steps To Your Best Quarter Ever – Part 2

Are You Really Interested?
This issue
includes the next 3 Steps;
-
Who Is YOU?
-
Is Your Personal Technology
Out Of Date?
-
Are YOU Awake?
9.
Who Is YOU?
My
explanation of Who Is YOU dovetails with the above list of
asleep and hypnotized patterns and
the next two points;
Who is the
YOU that would allow doing some or all of these things day
in and day out?
The real
YOU is your soul based self. The self that was put on this
earth to aspire to your dreams and make a significant
difference in life, other than building a bigger house to
keep you and your plasma TV dry.
YOU are not
your body. Your body is a vehicle to transport your soul
based self to assist in doing good work.
YOU are not
your mind. Your mind is also a tool for your soul based
self to assist in doing good work.
YOU are not
your “healthy” ego mind.
YOU are not
your “un-healthy” ego mind.
For
additional explanation on the ego mind, I have summarized a
general definition and what would appear to be positive
“healthy” explanations and negative “un-healthy”
explanations for the ego mind into categories from
Answers.com. Take a look for yourself;
www.answers.com/egoo
General
definition – ego
The “I” or
self of any person (ego is
Latin
for “I”). In psychological terms, the ego is the part of the
psyche that experiences the outside world and
reacts to it, coming between the primitive drives of the
id
and the demands of the social environment, represented by
the
superego.
The term
ego is often used to mean personal pride and
self-absorption: “Losing at chess doesn't do much for my
ego.”
In
psychoanalytic theory, the division of the psyche that is
conscious, most immediately controls thought.
Positive
“healthy” explanations – ego
- The self, especially as distinct
from the world and other selves.
- In psychoanalysis, the division of
the psyche that is conscious, most immediately controls
thought and behavior, and is most in touch with external
reality.
- Appropriate pride in oneself;
self-esteem.
- An individual's awareness of what
constitutes his or her essential nature and
distinguishes him or her from all others:
self. A sense of one's own dignity or worth:
amour-propre,
pride,
self-esteem,
self-regard,
self-respect.
- Your consciousness of your own
identity.
- The conscious mind.
Negative
“un-healthy” explanations – ego
What roll does your “un-healthy” ego
mind play by keeping YOU asleep and hypnotized in the above
list of patterns?
10.
Is Your Personal Technology Out Of Date?
The ego’s
technology is out of date in that it served our primal
ancestral forefathers well when under the attack of a
marauding tribe, a viscous animal or when on the hunt for
survival.
The ego had
to remain vigilant 24/7 because of the constant threat of
being attacked or in the process of attack whether it be man
or beast.
And it
served primal ancestral forefathers well.
Now let me
ask you … when was the last time that you were under the
attack of a marauding tribe or viscous animal other than
another “unhealthy” ego that you may have attracted into
your life?
Unbridled
and untrained your “unhealthy” ego mind has become your
worst nightmare because of it’s obsession with that
hallucination that it is still being attacked by a marauding
tribe, a viscous animal or that it has to hunt for survival.
If the ego’s technology is out of
date then why allow yourself to use it?
11.
Are YOU Awake?
Are you awake?
What is it that you do to stay awake?
Where are you when you are awake?
What is required for you to pay attention?
What role does paying attention play?
Are you the observer of the observer?
Are you being all that you can be?
Are you “being”?
Are you asleep and is the
“unhealthy” ego mind awake and does it have you hypnotized?
What is it that you do to fall asleep?
Where are you when you are NOT awake?
What interrupts you?
What role does falling asleep play?
Are you asleep?
Are you surviving?
Are you to busy becoming and not “being”?
The answers
and actions relating to the above questions are very simple
to facilitate.
All you
have to do is to ask yourself over the course of your day is
“Am I Awake?”
It is said
that you fall asleep into the potential rabbit hole of the
negative patterns of the “unhealthy” ego mind every 7
seconds.
This starts
with taking yourself off of the focus of your Vision by;
- Not blocking time for your most
important tasks; Vision, Values, Goals, Projects &
Actions, Measures & Time Blocking
- Not blocking time for your most
important tasks; Staying in touch with your customers
and prospects
- Checking e-mail constantly
- Checking the markets
- Daydreaming
- Going for coffee
- Answering the phone constantly
without having uninterrupted time to complete your most
important tasks
- Keeping an open door policy
without having uninterrupted time to complete your most
important tasks
- Doing “B” priority tasks during
the day (filing, marketing plans, preparing cases,
writing articles, writing e-mail etc.) when you should
be either speaking with existing clients, new clients or
quickly delegating client work for the best service
possible
Sooner or
later you wake up at the end of the day, week or month to;
a. blaming
yourself for being late, then
b. living
in fear worrying about sales, making the payments, then
c. living
in fear worrying about the economy, war, disease, then
d. being
short with your support team because you have no time, then
e. being
short with your clients because you have no time, then
f. blaming
others, then
g. drinking
alcohol to numb yourself out, then
h. watching
TV to numb yourself out even more, then
i. beating
yourself up for another well deserved day, then
j. stressing
while you are sleeping, then
k. hitting
the snooze button, then …
Are YOU awake now?
Are YOU paying attention?
1. Theme & Intention
Your first
step is to create a Theme and Intention. I’m taking the
liberty to suggest, “My Best Quarter Ever”.
Use this as
a Vision Statement that you refer to during the day. An
affirmation if you will.
During the
course of your day, ask yourself;
Is
what I am doing right now taking the necessary action for
“My Best Quarter Ever”?
What
can I do now to make this “My Best Quarter Ever”?
2. Vision
3. Values
4. Goals
5. Project & Actions
6. Measures
7. Time Blocking & Prime Time
For Your
Best Quarter Ever …
Do
you have your written Vision, Values, Goals, Projects &
Actions, Measures & Time Blocking?
In essence
…
Do
you have a Business Plan?
If the
answer is no …
How
is that working for you?

If you
DO NOT have your written Vision, Values, Goals,
Projects & Actions, Measures & Time Blocking … perhaps
something else is stopping you.
You know
what you need to do to be successful. If you are reading
this e-newsletter you have read a book or two on the subject
of success.
What
is it that you are doing to be successful?
What
is it that you are NOT doing to be successful?
How
is that working for you?
Is
that acceptable to you?
8. Are You Really Interested?
When
you are interested you do what is convenient.
When you are committed you do what ever it
takes.
Most
people are only interested in living the life of
their dreams. They are not committed to doing what
ever it takes. Whether it is completing their planning,
getting up early and staying late from time to time, they
are just not committed.
Here
is an example of a person’s day that is interested in
their success;
-
hitting the snooze button,
then
-
blaming themselves for being
late, then
-
not making the time to work
out, then
-
not saying “I love you” to
their loved ones, then
-
rushing to work in a state of
adrenaline, then
-
blaming all the so called
"slow drivers" along the way, then
-
again blaming themselves,
then
-
living in fear worrying about
sales, making the payments, then
-
living in fear worrying about
the economy, war, disease, then
-
arriving at work to a messy
office, then
-
allowing themselves to be
controlled by misdirected beliefs, then
-
believing they have no time,
then
-
believing that they will never
get it all done, then
-
believing that they are not
good enough, then
-
believing that they are
letting others down, then
-
believing that they are out of
control, then
-
never getting it all done,
then
-
having no plan for the day,
then
-
being short with their support
team because they believe they have no time, then
-
being short with their clients
because they believe they no time, then
-
blaming others, then
-
allowing themselves to gossip
about others, then
-
not eating the right food when
they should, then
-
not planning for the next day,
then
-
drinking alcohol to numb
themselves out, then
-
turning on CNN to see who else
is worse off in the world, then
-
watching TV to numb themselves
out even more, then
-
beating themselves up for
another well deserved day, then
-
believing they are trapped,
then
-
believing that it will never
change, then
-
stressing while they are
sleeping, then
-
hitting the snooze button,
then...
They
repeatedly try to take action based on the above list and
this eventually becomes Who They Are.
How
is that working for you?
Are
you prepared to continue this way?
What
would have to be different in your business and personal
life to make sustainable changes to guarantee your success?

The Book
What do I want to do with my life?”
For some reason, I’ve been reflecting over the last few days
around the question of;
“What do I want to do with my life?”
Ha! For some reason! :-)
The reason is my own personal work has heightened my level
of awareness for me to really get clear about “What do I
want to do with my life”.
Without sounding like I am playing with semantics here …
It is not “What do I want to do IN my life”.
It is not about being a great coach, consultant,
facilitator, speaker or trainer.
It is about WITH!
Who WITH!
And this is about creating a difference.
And as I’m writing this I think to myself …
What about the Vision, Purpose & Mission I wrote a number of
years ago?
Let’s see if it still applies!
And you know what!
It does!
So what is the next step to fulfill this Vision, Purpose &
Mission?
Publish – “Being” An Advisor & Stop “Doing” Sales
My Vision is to help our clients and their teams to feel
fulfilled through the development, realization and enactment
of their tru-values, vision, mission and purpose.
Fulfillment - a deep, soul-orientated feeling that one
experiences when they are expressing their values, as in
being themselves.
My Purpose is to seek wisdom, provide encouragement, and
teach understanding.
My Mission is to connect, encourage and renew fulfillment
with all people that we serve. |
