Demonstrating By Example To Show How To Ask For A Referral

I received the following excerpt of a message from one of my clients and I have included my reply as a demonstration of how to ask for a referral.

Dear Simon,

Thank you for the clarification.  That really helps.  I spent the afternoon listening to the coaching conversation recorded with you last week.

Thank you for everything you have been doing for/with me thus far.  I must tell you that this is a very good process for me and I am invigorated and excited.  

I have also given your name to a few people, one a financial planner and one a financial product wholesaler.

Working With A Coach Requires The Following Adult Behaviors

  • Blocks out time to complete assignments in advance of their coaching call.
  • Completes requested assignments on time.
  • Replies to e-mails within a reasonable amount of time.
  • Arrives on time for appointments.
  • Doesn’t blame the coaching program to justify their inaction.
  • Doesn’t blame their associates, company and suppliers.
  • Doesn’t make excuses.

The adult behaviors that one demonstrates will be exemplified by their clients in kind.

 

D+D+S+T+T+A+G+L= Space To Attract

The above formula, D+D+S+T+T+A+G+L, is an abbreviation for Deanne + Delegation + Systems + Technology + Team + Audio Acrobat + GoToMeeting + LogMeIn = Space To Attract new ideas and opportunities.

I’m feeling like I’ve got some additional peace of mind and the space to attract new ideas and opportunities after creating a new system. The increased number of financial advisor coaching clients using the One Page Business Plan has also increased my use of GoToMeeting. I’m finding that my day is starting by preparing for my coaching calls along with ever increasing extra time to schedule One Page Business Plan financial advisor coaching sessions using GoToMeeting. This, of course, takes more time.

In the later part of 2011 and in the beginning of 2012, I’ve been looking at ways to use delegation, systems and technology to save energy and time so that I am in a position to use my mind to attract ideas and opportunities versus doing routine but valuable tasks. We only have so much consciousness, energy and time. We’ve got to make a choice what we’re going to do with it.

So to save consciousness, energy and time I invested the best part of an hour last Friday morning with Deanne McAndrews, our Customer Service Virtual Assistant. I used Audio Acrobat to record a telephone conversation with Deanne while using GoToMeeting to visually show Deanne how to identify my next week coaching calls that are scheduled in Maximizer so that Deanne can then use LogMeIn to go into my computer and send out the GoToMeeting invitations on my behalf.

Now that I have more consciousness, energy and time, how about the formula for Deanne + Delegation + Systems + Technology + Team + Audio Acrobat + GoToMeeting + LogMeIn = just Space. Ahh.

Deanne + Delegation + Systems + Technology + Team + Audio Acrobat + GoToMeeting + LogMeIn … Cost mid 4 figures monthly.

Space … Priceless!

 

Reflecting Back My Client’s Thoughts During Market Turmoil

Here is a copy of an e-mail to one of my clients after our call on September 22, 2011.

Dear Joe Advisor,

Thank you for today’s coaching call.

Please remember to realize that you are the vessel through which all communications flows, one cannot be of service feeling guilt for things that are beyond their control and it is best to focus on what one can control and create, remember your Value Proposition, all the value ads that you bring to the table, that you are doing your best and that at the end of the day, the client has free will to choose what they want to do or they can accept this excellent advise from you;

“At the time of the market turmoil in Sept 08, some said the wrong thing to do was to stay put, this turned out to be the right thing to do.”

Do We Ask For Coaching Testimonials To Make Us Look Good?

I was following through on our Tips To Speed Up Your Client Testimonial Process and the following thought came to mind as I was writing to ask a client for their permission to share their words with perspective clients that we are speaking with.

Asking our clients for testimonials is more about Declaring and Dedicating the progress that they have made and the value that they have received than making us look good.

So following through on our Tips To Speed Up Your Client Testimonial Process here is what we are doing in real time …

Hi Louisa,

I hope that all is well with you.

I’m following up on the two questions that I asked you; what did you like best about the coaching and what did you receive that you didn’t expect … with the intention of declaring and dedicating the progress that you have made and to offer your words to prospective clients that we are talking with.
